Salvatore
For more than 20 years, Salvatore built a successful career as a professional dancer, performing alongside artists like Prince and Lady Gaga. After stepping away from the entertainment industry, he built a stable life in West Hollywood, working at an animal shelter and adopting his best friend, Rocco.
Then a devastating hip injury changed everything.
After receiving hip surgery, mounting medical bills forced Salvatore to leave his apartment. Before he could fully recover from surgery, his second hip failed as well. Unable to work and with nowhere else to go, Salvatore and Rocco began living in their vehicle.
Through PATH, Salvatore was connected with Safe Parking LA and entered our program where he was able to recover from a second surgery. With support from his case manager Alma, a safe place to park each night, and the companionship of Rocco by his side, Salvatore slowly rebuilt stability and began working toward permanent housing.
Six months later, a housing opportunity came up and Salvatore and Rocco found a home of their own. Today, they live together in a cozy one-bedroom apartment, and Salvatore is looking toward the future with plans to return to entertainment as a choreographer or dance instructor.
